ICI-Fellowships 2009/2010, Tension/Spannung: Application Instructions

 

A.    Please read the fellowship announcement, project description, and fellowship guidelines.

B.    Please prepare the following material in English or German as rtf-, word-, pdf-, or jpg-documents:

1.    Information Sheet

Please complete the information sheet making sure to indicate whether you are applying for a regular fellowship (10 months) or a short-term fellowship (3 months)

Please choose, and if applicable rank, the main focus of your project. (This will help finding appropriate assessors for your project.)

2.    Curriculum Vitae

Please include:

  • education
  • honours, grants, and awards
  • relevant positions, experiences, activities, and initiatives
  • publications and projects

Please do not include personal pictures or indications of age, race, ethnic origin, or religious affiliation.

3.    Diploma

Please include a copy of your last relevant diploma or degree certificate.

4.    Project Proposal with abstract

Please write an abstract (about 1.000 characters) of your project proposal.

In your project proposal (no more than 10,000 characters in total), please indicate:

  • the topic, the questions, and goals of your project
  • the methodology to be employed
  • any preliminary work done
  • a timetable
  • the planned form of publication (book publication, extended essay, exhibi-tion, performance etc.).

Please describe how the project bears upon the ICI core project Tension / Spannung and how you hope to contribute to an exchange with other fellows and benefit from it. Especially curators and artists should demonstrate their interest to reflect upon the conceptual and intellectual basis of their projects and to discuss them with fellows from various academic disciplines.

5.    Work Sample(s)/Portfolio

Please include a chapter from your book or dissertation, an article, work in progress, your portfolio, or some equivalent material or documentation. (No more than 50,000 characters or equivalent. Any of the following formats are acceptable: pdf, odt, doc, rtf, jpg, tiff.)

Please send all the documents in one mail message of no more than 2 MB. If you cannot compress and reduce the size of your documents to this limit, please make your documents available through a web-site, indicating in your message the links to the documents to be considered for this application.

C.    Please choose two recommenders who are able to comment on your suitability for the fellowship and the potential of your project. Ask them to send their letters of recommendation directly to application(at)ici-berlin.org, indicating your name in the subject line.


D.    Please make sure your application is complete and send it to:

Please indicate the type of fellowship and the main focus of your project in the subject line.
