Former ICI Fellow Zairong Xiang will speak about ‘Transdualism: The A/history of Yinyang’ as part of the conference ‘Deep Time and Crisis, c. 1930’ at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW), 26-27 May, 2018.
The conference brings together international art historians and writers from a new generation. Starting from Carl Einstein’s theoretical texts on art and the themes of the exhibition, contributors will examine the relationship between the global crises around 1930 and the present. What cultural significance does the recourse to deep time and narratives of origins have, then and now? Which crises in the present seem familiar?
