When queer cinema and queer aesthetics document the precarious, it also implies a revolution in the symbolic realm. To put it differently: its aesthetic endeavor of highlighting framings without simply repeating them, shows itself to be — as the essays by prominent theoreticians of film and media studies and queer theory collected in this volume show — a precarious form of documentation. The contributions also offer an insight into the current state of queer cinema — its films, videos, and visual installations.
