Research
Coordinator

The ICI Berlin is an independent research centre located in Berlin/Prenzlauer Berg. It defines itself through a series of interlocking core projects that are designed to traverse different disciplines and foster theoretical and critical interventions of cultural inquiry. The projects are undertaken in collaboration with an international group of twelve two-year postdoctoral fellows. For the focus AutoReduction concluding our core project Reduction, we are looking for a responsible, reliable, and committed Research Coordinator (Part Time 50%).

The project is interested in the critical and generative potentials of autoreduction in all its ambivalence ranging from self-destruction to self-conservation. It asks what it might mean to think the opposing poles closely together, embrace accusations of self-destructiveness, and understand, for instance, the deconstruction of concepts of the human, the subject, and reason as a form of self-destruction. For a more detailed description of the focus, see https://www.ici-berlin.org/projects/autoreduction/.

The research coordinator will assist the director in coordinating the project AutoReduction. Tasks include identifying and commenting on relevant research material; preparing, participating in, and documenting weekly colloquia; helping to organize a lecture series to accompany the project; guiding the process leading to a common publication, which usually involves one or two workshops in which fellows present drafts, provide feedback, and co-edit the volume; evaluating event and co-operation proposals related to the project; participating in formulating the next core project and evaluating fellowship applications.

Scholars from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Applicants should be fluent in both English and German, have a PhD and a research interests related to the ICI's general profile and the upcoming AutoReduction project. Relevant work experience and familiarity with interdisciplinary and international research environments are required.

Deadline: 22 June 2026
