Schon seit einiger Zeit ist zu beobachten, dass sich die historisch enge Verbindung zwischen dem Dispositiv „Kino“ und der ästhetischen Praxis „Film“ um eine Vielzahl anderer medialer Konfigurationen erweitert hat. Zwischen YouTube und Kunstraum, HBO und Multiplex: Wo ist heute (noch & schon wieder) Kino, was ist (weiterhin) Film? So lauten die Leitfragen einer von Volker Pantenburg und Simon Rothöhler (SFB 626 / FU Berlin) organisierten Tagung im ICI Berlin.

Aufgrund der gegenwärtigen Reiseeinschränkungen muss die ursprünglich geplante Eröffnung  am 22. April im Kino Arsenal leider ausfallen!
Die Tagung beginnt stattdessen am 23. April im ICI Berlin. Vorträge u.a. von Raymond Bellour (Paris), Diedrich Diederichsen (Berlin/Wien), Tom Gunning (Chicago), Vinzenz Hediger (Bochum), Ute Holl (Basel), Gertrud Koch (Berlin) und Lev Manovich (San Diego).

Cinema without Walls – Borderlands of Film

International Conference

In recent years, it has become increasingly clear that the historically close relationship between „cinema“ and the aesthetic practice of „film“ is being supplemented by an array of different media configurations. Between YouTube and art spaces, HBO and Multiplex: Old and new, historical and contemporary forms and concepts of film and cinema will constitute the central topics of a conference organised by Volker Pantenburg and Simon Rothöhler (CRC 626/FU Berlin).

Due to current travel restrictions, the planned opening on April 22 at the Arsenal Cinema had to be cancelled.

The conference will begin on 23 April at the ICI Berlin Institute for Cultural Inquiry with speakers including Raymond Bellour (Paris), Diedrich Diederichsen (Berlin/Wien), Tom Gunning (Chicago), Vinzenz Hediger (Bochum), Ute Holl (Basel), Gertrud Koch (Berlin) und Lev Manovich (San Diego).
