As payments in Germany (rent, health insurance and other payments) are primarily made cashless via bank transfer, you should have a European bank account, which is also required for you to receive your stipend.
You will need to bring the following documents with you when opening an account:
- Passport
- Residence registration certificate from the ("Bürgeramt")
- ICI Fellowship Agreement
